Here's some doodles and whatnot.  The painted one was based off a still from the new James Bond movie apparently.

Here's a song I wrote a couple years ago and recorded over a week or two recently.  Turned out pretty well, I suppose.  Lots of obnoxiously convoluted steam-of-consciousness songwriting going on here.

It's styled after Opeth, especially the start.  I kinda just ripped the drum parts at the start straight from Leper Affinity.  Shhhhhhhhh.

A little experiment.  I got inspired by this part of this song:

Turned out more of a rock-y vibe than this song in the end though.  I had 7 guitar tracks at once at a point on this one.  2 main guitars, and 5 layered doing the weird staggered part at the end.

A little jam thing with some funk and fusion sounds to it.  Basically I just came up with a nice bass line using some harmonics and went from there.

So I made this song after listening to bands like Lantlos and Alcest lately, kinda heavy post-rock/metal.  I tried out some vocal stuff at the end, for better or for worse.  This is the first track where I'm using EZDrummer for drums.  The rest (guitar/bass/vocals) is all me.

I've had a lot of downtime, so I've been sketching in Photoshop.  I've gotten rusty.

Just a quick test.  New rhythm guitar tone.


Recorded a backing track for improv practice, then I recorded a mostly improv lead line for this.  It goes off the rails a bit near the end.  I got some use out of my E-Bow for a short little bit in the middle.


Something I've been working on for a long time, I did a test recording of a segment of this song.  Seems promising.


I've wanted to do a Folk Metal cover of this song from Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for a while now.  Might happen some day if I can finish transcribing it.

Robot Chicken/DC Comics Art Show, and other things.

So here's the final piece I made for the Robot Chicken DC Comics Art Show.

All done in Photoshop.  Lots of pen tool, lots of layers, lots of masking, and bits of the brush tool.  And it was done in far too many hours, in the span of far too few days.  The show is Friday, so I might make another post Saturday on how that goes.

Quick idea recorded with just guitars (originally to a metronome), because I was too lazy to actually write this progression down I just recorded it.  Probably no easier in the long run.  Also quasi-improvised, especially on the right-channel.
